This is the plumbing company/partner you want. I could write reams about why you should hire Bill and his crew, but it's all been written already below. What I can say is that the experiences you see are exactly what I had, and I did a complete rebuild of my house and Bill's team were instrumental in the overall repiping, plus the all-important, critical connections from the street-utilities to my meters and main entrances. Don't waste time calling around -- hire them!
12/7/08 I had been using a seemingly professional, but unlicensed, contractor to add a 1/2 bath in my 1908 Victorian home near downtown San Jose. He originally told me that the entire job would take approximately 7-10 working days. Fast forward 7 weeks! The job was at his pace at least 2 weeks to completion, over 3 times the original timeframe. "How can that be?", you ask - because almost every task he did, he did wrong, and then he had to re-do the work! I was beyond frustrated and had already paid the guy $5500 of the $8K I agreed to, but the one thing I knew for sure was that the utilities had to be right and had to be to code. This contractor did one thing or another to the plumbing on at least 5 separate occasions and each time there were leaks, missing or incorrect straps or non-level pipes and he had to re-do it in an attempt to get it right. I had enough of this guy with his excuses and shoddy work, so I found Dempster Plumbing in an on-line review. He was a licensed, bonded, and insured plumber and he had 20 reviews that were 5 out of 5 stars. Could this guy help me out? Well let me tell you - all I can say is "Incredible!" I called Bill Dempster, the owner. He returned my call within an hour, met me 3 hrs later at my home and gave me a written estimate, which included observations of 4 code violations from the other guy, then showed up with a 5 man crew the next day. He and his crew tore out the other contractor's shoddy plumbing, salvaged almost 100% of the copper material to save me money, re-installed the copper pipe plumb and level with correct strapping and routing (the piping is so secure, you can do pull-ups off of it!), installed an external pump from a new washing machine sink in the basement to my existing sewer, installed the pedestal sink and toilet, AND tore out and re-installed new tile because the first contractor installed my new tile incorrectly - all in 9 hrs! They even put the 1/2 bath baseboard back up for me with their nail gun free of charge. Did I mention that Bill Dempsters brother Val is a floor installation expert? I had showed Bill my badly installed tile floor the day before and he brought his brother along just in case I wanted that work done. It was a good thing, because that tile floor job from the other guy looked horrible! All of this work was done for a fair price, which I know because I had gotten quotes for this kind of thing at the start of this 1/2 bath install 7 weeks prior. Bill Dempster and his crew are BAD ASS. The reviews do not lie. Bill is the real deal. The work he did for my home looks absolutely "Cherry" and is of the highest quality. If you need any plumbing work done for a fair price in a timely and professional manner, call Bill now. I guarantee you won't regret it. My lesson learned - Hire licensed contractors and find one like Bill that has great reviews.
When we called Bill about a leaky valve, he talked us through some quick fixes to try in order to avoid having to pay for a plumber. Once we determined he needed to take a look, he was here in half an hour and had the work done in no time.
Bill re-piped our house in San Jose all the way out to the water meter. I saw the quality of the work they performed all along the way and I was very impressed. You can't tell where they removed and put back a 25 foot strip of grass to get to the water main. Additionally we've had a long standing issues with stagnant water collecting under the house that several "experts" never could agree how to fix. It was Bill Dempster that immediately pinpoint the problem of a leaking sewer line. The problem is solved! I had Dempster Plumbing do a full home copper re-pipe from the curb and install a tankless water heater. I can't say enough good things about Bill and his crew. Bill and his crew were very professional, promptly arriving each morning and kept me updated on the progress of the job. I had complete running water in the evening and it was as if they weren't there because of how they kept everything so clean. It was great discussing the project with Bill because he was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about everything, you can definitely tell that he loves what he does. I would have never thought I'd be happy to see plumbers in my house until the Dempster guys showed up! We had a water heater that was almost as old as our 50-year-old house. When it started leaking two weeks ago, we called a few plumbers with good Yelp reviews to give us an estimate for installing a tankless water heater, removing an obsolete solar system and relocating our washer and dryer and our garage sink to the other side of the garage. This whole job involves not only plumbing but also electrical work, gas pipe extension and creating a new exhaust/drain. Bill Dempster was very professional and patient in explaining what needs to be done. His bid was itemized so we can decide what fits our budget and his proposal was much more reasonable cost-wise than anybody else. But what really made it for us is that, unlike anybody else, he included in his bid the labor and materials for the electrician that he works with. We really didn't want to look for more reviews of electricians and deal with yet another person for this project. The Dempster team came on time, were fast and professional and finished the same day as promised. Oh, and they were VERY polite. They cleaned the garage areas that opened after the old water heater was hauled away--it was some 50-year-old dust pile there. Since they needed access to the crawl space across the whole house, they placed tarps to minimize any dirt spreading. Before leaving the guys checked thoroughly if everything is working. One of our kitchen circuits was off and we couldn't flip the switch on the electrical panel any more. The problem had nothing to do with their work, but our refrigerator didn't have power, so they called for us their electrician, who came promptly and, although it was almost 9pm, he drove all over town to find a substitution for the faulty switch. Half an hour after the plumbing team left, however, one of the new pipes leaked. We called the office (already way outside normal working hours) and Bill himself came with his foreman to inspect the whole project and fix the problem. He also measured the pressure in the pipes to make sure that we would not get the same problem again. Overall, we are extremely happy with Dempster Plumbing! Such a luck to have found them.
Bill is extremely reliable and dependable. He is always exactly on time (very rare for a contractor), is easy to get ahold of and performs quality work! He is personable, has flexible hours, and is honest! Oh and if you need anything else done.. ask Bill he always knows somebody. Highly recommend!

This was my first experience dealing with a broken pipe under a slab floor, in our home, a duplex Los Gatos. It happened in the rental unit. A plumber was called & he jackhammered up part of the bathroom floor & replaced the old iron pipe. When he turned the water back on, guess what? The hot water pipe broke under the living room floor. The wonderful tenants were prepared for more jackhammering. However, we explored the internet and arranged for 3 estimates. The price from all 3 companies was fairly close. So we decided to go with Dempster Plumbing, because the owner came out to do the estimate and was obviously the most knowledgable in showing us what needed to be done. He had a stable work crew and came out to the job everyday. The crew was very courteous and covered everything in plastic as well as floors. They cleaned and vacuumed after the work day. The dry wall guy did an outstanding job of repairing the walls and left them paint ready. They checked back to make sure that everything was working well. Our job was not done in one day, but there was a lot to do and the quality and care is most important to us.
We recently bought a house and found that we needed to replace our sewer line and install two cleanouts.. I asked around but ended up relying on Yelp reviews. We got a couple of bids, and thought we could get the city to do it but the wait was 9 months! So we hired Dempster Plumbing. Bill Dempster and his cheerful crew showed up promptly at 9am and made short work of hand digging an enormous trench across the front yard, carefully digging around the tree roots. On the second day workers arrived again at 9 and had the line installed, tested and ready to be inspected by early afternoon. On the third day the city inspector came and signed off, saying they did a good job. They crew cleaned up after themselves, even trying to put the sod back over the sewer line and washing off our sidewalk and driveway. I'll hire them again if I need plumbing help. I found Bill Dempster here on Yelp, after getting what I thought was an exorbitant quote for drainpipe repair from Go Go Rooter. Turns out I was right. You can see my review of them for the details. I wouldn't call them for plumbing, though. Call Bill instead.
We asked Dempster Plumbing to come and install some new thermostatic shower valves. They were able to swing by the same day to give us an estimate that was within the ballpack of what we were expecting. The next day, they installed the valves. They brought in someone great to patch up the drywall, even matching the texturing. The house we bought apparently had a crummy tile job and one of the tiles popped out while they were installing the valves. Dempster called in someone that specializes in tiles to patch up the tile and grout. The did an excellent, professional job in a short amount of time on budget. I was very impressed and would not hesitate to recommend Dempster Plubing to a friend or colleague in need. Thanks guys, I really appreciate the great job.
Dempster Plumbing delivers big time. I recently purchased a house that needed some serious plumbing work done, including the installation of copper pipes throughout.the house. Bill was extremely knowledgeable and was able to start the work ASAP. He and his crew knocked out the job in less time (and SIGNIFICANTLY less $$) than originally quoted, with top-notch results. Bill is an honest, hardworking guy who delivers on his word. I plan to do a bathroom remodel in a few months, and Bill is the man I'm going with!
I called Dempster Plumbing because i needed my water heater replaced. Bill showed up in a timely manner. He was very very friendly and helpful as well. He seems like he has a lot of experience and his work showed it. The price was really good as well. I'll be calling Dempster Plumbing again.
