Bill and his son came by on about five hours notice to help me move a natural gas pipe in the attic. I live in a 100 year old house and asked them to inspect everything to see what needed changing as long as they were here. These two guys were out for about an hour climbing around in basements, attics, etc. It turns out the pipe was disconnected, so no plumber was required to remove the pipe. At the end of it all they didn't want to charge me for their time. I insisted they take something. Free house calls on short notice. That's too good to be true.Bill and his son came by on about five hours notice to help me move a natural gas pipe in the attic. I hired Bill to re-pipe my 1750 sq ft home, replace a water heater, and do partial remodels of 2 of my bathrooms.
I felt the price was very fair. The crew did a very good job with the repipe/remodel. They did a nice job bringing my water heater up to code requirements. They installed new faucets as part of the re-pipe package. They worked well as a team and took pride in their work. They were polite and cheerful, even at the end of a long day. There were some minor adjustments that had to be made but it was extremely important to me that Bill and the crew were happy to answer questions and return to fix things, even when it came to replacing defective parts I had purchased. Sam did a beautiful job with the tiles. Valaree is always pleasant and helpful on the phone. Last but not least, I appreciate that customer satisfaction is important to Bill.
We passed inspection with no issues.

When I lived in CA, I had to get some work done. I got estimates from plenty of places, Dempster had a very competitive rate. I'm not sure what swayed me to choose them, but I'm glad I did. They seemed to take pride in their work, and I did not get the sense that their only goal was to finish as quickly as possible. They were genuinely interested in making sure that I was satisfied with the finished product.

I'm a real estate broker and have gone through a lot of plumbers. Until now, I haven't been able to refer any plumbers out to my clients because there wasn't any one that I could trust.
Then, I was recently referred to Bill Dempster and his team by a client of mine. I was so impressed with the quality and finish work in my clients bathroom (which was practically a full remodel) that I called him to open up my bathtub walls to check out some water damage and install a shower enclosure. They did a great job of identifying the problem, salvaged the marble tiles and did a beautiful job patching, sheetrocking and reattaching the marble.
They also did an amazing job putting the enclosure on. I have seen so many shotty jobs that I know it's not as easy as it seems. His team even noticed that the new glass door was slightly chipped so they took it back to Home depot for me and got a new one and the installation was spot on!! They vacuumed and cleaned and it was like they were never there! Thanks Bill, Vallen and Brian!! You guys are awesome!

I called Bill for a leak. He said all the pipes were ready to go and we needed a re-pipe (the house had old galvanized pipes). Before I hired him, I got estimates from other plumbers. They confirmed his assessment, but he was much more thorough than the others.
Then I called many of his references (I found Bill through Yelp). All of his references gave glowing reviews. Several were property managers, so they've worked with him on multiple jobs throughout the years.

I needed to have my shower drain pipe replaced while re-tiling my shower. I was very concerned with the cost. I had no idea plumbers would be so expensive.
I left a message and he called back promptly. He came by to look at my drain and said it wouldn't be a big job. He charges $85/hr, but works quickly and is very competent. He's easy to work with and my drain only ended up costing me $144. A bargain for such quick and expert service.

I recently knocked my whole house down and rebuilt it from the ground up. The total square footage of the new house is about 3100 square feet which Bill Dempster & crew did every bit of plumbing work required (rough & finish). He is very knowledgeable and be it different brands of fixtures, instahot vs tank water heaters or even supply houses he provides good input as needed. Bill (owner) personally worked on the whole job and was there for every plumbing inspection to answer any questions that the city inspector had. Every single inspection passed the first time. I should also add that he clearly takes a lot of pride in his work and is quite confident that his work will pass any inspection the first time. As an owner builder this is very reassuring.

Bill is reliable, timely and dependable. I called regarding our diminishing hot water pressure in the shower and he came over to check out the problem within hours. Gave me an inexpensive possible fix and came back a second time within hours of my calling him. Even though the fix didn't work....he solved the problem and now my shower is awesome. I would highly recommend Bill and his group any time. Since my father is a general contractor and I've dealt with his subs over the years, my two regrets are...that I have no more plumbing problems at the moment to solve with Bill's help, and that my father is in the mid-peninsula doing work and not in Bill's area of work. I'd recommend him heads above anyone else I've dealth with.

I'm a new home owner without any knowledge on plumbing. After moved-in, I found my shower spout bad, and water became half and half when pulling up the splitter. I thought it would be easy to fix it as I watched some youtube videos and talked to several associates in the Home Depot before I bought a new spout and a 18" pipe wrench. But it's not that simple. After my dad twisted the spout off with the wrench, we found got the copper pipe broken. In no way, I could fix it without a professional help. After searching in http://yelp.com, I decided to give Dempster a try. He quoted in the phone and showed up half an hour later. He managed to fix the problem in 15mins and checked all my other faucets for free. The total charge is what he quoted plus the cost of the part. I'm 100% satisfied with his job.

I'm a new home owner without any knowledge on plumbing. After moved-in, I found my shower spout bad, and water became half and half when pulling up the splitter. I thought it would be easy to fix it as I watched some youtube videos and talked to several associates in the Home Depot before I bought a new spout and a 18" pipe wrench. But it's not that simple. After my dad twisted the spout off with the wrench, we found got the copper pipe broken. In no way, I could fix it without a professional help. After searching in http://yelp.com, I decided to give Dempster a try. He quoted in the phone and showed up half an hour later. He managed to fix the problem in 15mins and checked all my other faucets for free. The total charge is what he quoted plus the cost of the part. I'm 100% satisfied with his job.

I had been using a seemingly professional, but unlicensed, contractor to add a 1/2 bath in my 1908 Victorian home near downtown San Jose. He originally told me that the entire job would take approximately 7-10 working days. Fast forward 7 weeks! The job was at his pace at least 2 weeks to completion, over 3 times the original timeframe. He was a licensed, bonded, and insured plumber and he had 20 reviews that were 5 out of 5 stars. Could this guy help me out? Well let me tell you - all I can say is "Incredible!"

He returned my call within an hour, met me 3 hrs later at my home and gave me a written estimate, which included observations of 4 code violations from the other guy, then showed up with a 5 man crew the next day. He and his crew tore out the other contractor's shoddy plumbing, salvaged almost 100% of the copper material to save me money, re-installed the copper pipe plumb and level with correct strapping and routing (the piping is so secure, you can do pull-ups off of it!), installed an external pump from a new washing machine sink in the basement to my existing sewer, installed the pedestal sink and toilet, AND tore out and re-installed new tile because the first contractor installed my new tile incorrectly - all in 9 hrs! They even put the 1/2 bath baseboard back up for me with their nail gun free of charge. Did I mention that Bill Dempsters brother Val is a floor installation expert? I had showed Bill my badly installed tile floor the day before and he brought his brother along just in case I wanted that work done. It was a good thing, because that tile floor job from the other guy looked horrible! All of this work was done for a fair price, which I know because I had gotten quotes for this kind of thing at the start of this 1/2 bath install 7 weeks prior.
Bill Dempster and his crew are BAD ASS. The reviews do not lie. Bill is the real deal. The work he did for my home looks absolutely "Cherry" and is of the highest quality. We discovered a water pipe leak at our house about a week before Christmas and was in need of immediate help to fix the slab leak. Due to the small size of the leak and the fact that we are on a concrete slab, the locator was unable to locate the leak and provided us a few options, the best of which was to do a full repipe through the attic (of course it was also the most expensive... ouch!!). We got a few quotes from different plumbers and decided to go with Dempster Plumbing after evaluating the price, work included, and when they could get the job done.
Bill and his crew came and were able to finish the job in four days, just in time for Christmas! Bill had to work on another job, so he wasn't personally there to do the work (he did come and inspect to make sure things were done right during and at the end of the job), but Eddie and the other guys did a good job with the repiping and installing new shower heads, valves, etc. Dempster Plumbing even offered to put in new bath/kitchen faucets and sinks for us for free if we got them the parts in time, so we ended up also replacing our bath/kitchen facets and the kitchen sink (love our new kitchen sink!). Once all the repiping was done, the drywall guy, Vincente, came on the third day afternoon and started patching things up. He came back the next day with his son to finish the texturing of the drywalls and stayed til like 10pm to finish everything. Now everything is back to normal!
Fast forward one month, we noticed problems with our sewer line (talk about bad luck!) and called Dempster Plumbing again. Bill and his son came out and tried to help unclog our sewer line outside the house just today, but it was not a simple job as originally thought. It turned out that we have a broken pipe on the city side, so we are working to get the city to fix it. :(
Bill and his crew and the office lady Valerie have been very nice and helpful throughout all these problems we had at the house. I highly recommend Dempster Plumbing if you ever have any plumbing needs!

Bill was able to come within hours to bid on a sewer line replacement.
This was a difficult job, as the sewer line was broken 60ft away from the house built on a hill. The breakage was underneath a retaining wall and a tree, as determined by another plumber, whose snake and machine had gotten stuck in it. The job would involve a lot of digging. As it turns out, there was a gas line nearby, so it had to be hand digging.
Bill's crew was able to do the job for 40% of the bid of the first plumber that came in - and get their machine unstuck as well. The job was completed promptly. I will definitely call Bill again for other plumbing needs.Bill was able to come within hours to bid on a sewer line replacement.

I called around a few plumbers with good reviews on Yelp. Bill Dempster was one of a few that picked up the phone. He was able to drop-by and give me an estimate on the same day that I called. Also, his crew started to work the very next morning!
I needed to re-pipe the house and to add 2 gas lines. I hired a general contractor, who claimed to have a plumbing license. After 1.5 weeks, he was still not done with the re-pipe/gas lines and his work was sloppy/illegal. Bill and his crew was able to correct/re-do and finish the job in around 2 days!

We asked Dempster Plumbing to come and install some new thermostatic shower valves. They were able to swing by the same day to give us an estimate that was within the ballpack of what we were expecting. The next day, they installed the valves. They brought in someone great to patch up the drywall, even matching the texturing. The house we bought apparently had a crummy tile job and one of the tiles popped out while they were installing the valves. Dempster called in someone that specializes in tiles to patch up the tile and grout. The did an excellent, professional job in a short amount of time on budget. I was very impressed and would not hesitate to recommend Dempster Plubing to a friend or colleague in need.

I have been having problems with my sewer systems under the kitchen sink and I have contacted several big name companies, but the problems recur just right after the warranty expires. Since Bill diagnosed and repaired the problems, it's almost a year now and my sewer systems are working just great! He even replaced the other piping that were showing some wear at no extra charge. I highly recommend his expertise.I have been having problems with my sewer systems under the kitchen sink and I have contacted several big name companies, but the problems recur just right after the warranty expires. I called because of a backed up drain. The dispatcher indicated that they could definitely come out on Friday (this was Wed) but if they had time they would try and come earlier. Sure enough a couple hours later I got a call and they came out that same day. They worked quickly and efficiently, gave me the low-down on what caused it and what my next steps were. All-in-all I'm extremely satisfied with them and will definitely use them again.

They also installed the cabinet, plumbing fixtures and drainage to complete the set up. All work was done exceptionally well and for a fair price. Our house is rather old, from the 1920s era. We had to get several different quotes and discussed how they would go about fixing the problems at hand. One guy wanted to cut through the sheet rock and fully patch it up the area. There was a toilet and sink not running. The tub had an everlasting leak. In the long run, Bill and Nolan were the ones who were most reliable and skilled. We asked to try to keep the bathroom tub handles as original as possible. Bill went out of his way to get the dual handles and spout in Santa Clara and drove back to San Jose. What a guy!
And above all, he is a down to earth kind of person. I really appreciated his honesty. He was not pushy, and gave you the run down on things. If anything, he gave you several options, whether or not I could patch something or replace it entirely. I am honestly surprised he does not have more yelps. By the way, if he ever complains "you are killing me," that's just his way of telling you he gave you a great deal. Don't be bothered by it: he will take good care of you.

Bill re-piped our house in San Jose all the way out to the water meter. I saw the quality of the work they performed all along the way and I was very impressed. You can't tell where they removed and put back a 25 foot strip of grass to get to the water main.
Additionally we've had a long standing issues with stagnant water collecting under the house that several "experts" never could agree how to fix. It was Bill Dempster that immediately pinpoint the problem of a leaking sewer line. The problem is solved!
We are very grateful we found Dempster Plumbing and on top of it all his price was very reasonable.

Bill Dempster saved me from having to deal with a previously botched job by another so-called plumber who clearly didn't know what he was doing. As a single mother with few resources, I felt helpless. I was left with leaks in both bathroom and kitchen after the first plumber left. Bill not only fixed all the problems, at a very reasonable rate, he also went a little extra and found a way to lift my stove to fit my counter height. I just wish I had called Dempster in the first place! Don't mess around with other plumbers! I originally called Bill when the feed line to my hot water heater popped off in the middle of the night. He came the next day and quickly replaced both the input and output lines for a fair price. He also thought to check why the original line came undone and sure enough found that the water pressure in the house was way too high (around 100psi). He tried to adjust the existing pressure regulator, but it was shot. He then came back and installed a new regulator - all done quickly, correctly, and for a good price.
When it was time to replace the main water line from the street to the house, the first person I called was Bill. Again, hey gave a good price to install 110 feet of 1" main line to the house - on a hill where it all has to be hand dug. He saw that it was going to be complicated to replace the part of the old system that feed through to the interior of the house so he came up with a way that we could route the new line under a deck and into the crawlspace where it connected to the interior line. Saved me a lot of hassle and money on that.
His crew did this fairly large job in less than two days - they were quick, remembered all the details of where I wanted the hose bibs and stub outs for the landscaper, and even dropped in an extra PVC conduit for me so it would be easier to run irrigation wires to the irrigation stub-outs.
Another great part - he's been pretty booked so said he could get to me in about 10 days, which was fine. Called me two days later to say he found some time and could start that morning.

Every member of his team communicated regularly, offered suggestions, consulted my wife and I on what WE wanted. Bill oversaw the project on a daily basis, coming to my home several times a day to ensure we were happy and the job progressed as planned. They installed a water heater, repaired a water heater, re-piped a duplex, debugged a loud sprinkler pipe issue, installed new kitchen sink & faucet, installed new bath faucet, snaked a line, and fixed multiple leaks. Valerie in scheduling is pretty good about communicating, and the prices are always fair. Santos is our favorite, but all the guys that work here are great. On a Satureday In May, when I was ready to finish up the bathroom, I discovered that they had made a mistake that prevented me from making any progress. I called Bill right away and 30 minutes later, someone showed up to fix the problem.
In my book, that's the kind of service that deserves 5 stars.

Okay, I'm impressed! When it came to the owner's attention that I paid for driving time and so forth, the office contacted me. They sent me a check for $85 that shouldn't have been billed to me. Talk about making it right! Dempster Plumbing has earned my business for anything else I need, ever!
I had always intended to use them again. Now, I for sure will. I appreciate a business that pays attention to business fundamentals, namely, customer satisfaction.

We discovered my clean out valve was in the crawl space under the house, in a location that was totally unaccessible for clearing the clog. For a great price, Dempster added an extension to the clean out valve to the outside of my house, then cleared the clog. I have used Bill twice in the past. I am a homeowner of a single family home in the South Bay. I can only say great things about Bill.
The first time, I had a ruptured pipe in the back-yard. Bill came out to give me a very fair quote. Although he was not the cheapest, he seemed the most honest and took the time to explain what he thought the problem was and how best to fix it. I had him work on the project, which included relaying some copper piping from the front of the house, through the garage, under the backyard concrete, and into the garden. His team completed the work within a single day. Needless to say, I was impressed with both the speed and quality of the work.
Most recently, I had a leak under a very old sink which I attempted to fix on my own. After 2 days of work, I gave up and called Bill. I thought that the sink would have to be replaced or extensive work would need to be done costing me $100s of dollars. Bill took a look at it and said all I needed was some plumber's dope and sealed my leak within 5 minutes. He could have easily suggested otherwise - replaced my sink, etc and charged me several hundred dollars without me knowing any better. In the end, he only charged me $5 because that was all the cash I had in my pocket!!!

Bill just completed a repiping job for me and the reviews are true!
I completed a major renovation in 2003 on our house built in 1906. The house has some lath and plaster walls and in that renovation we were never immune from dust. On day one, Bill came in and entered walls to repipe to the shower faucets, when we arrived that evening the house was immaculate. If you care about clean, Bill is amazing.
His son really does help and others who were part of the project were soft spoken professionals who approached their work like watchmakers - it's obvious that they are serious tradesman in the same class as plumbers I've brought in from the two top plumbing companies that serve Palo Alto.
Bill did the work for a fixed price but when he ran into the gotchas that come with a 100 year house, he fixed it and didn't charge - I am not sure Bill wants that public but it was a breath of fresh air, it seemed as if he was working on his own house.
The drywall tape and plaster (not sure what they call this step) was done by a subcontractor and he was professional, punctual and spotless as well - the guy should do museum restoration - I know that sounds like I am gushing but I am so happy to finally find a good plumber. Thanks Bill

We were very happy with Bill and his team. We recently had them do a whole house repipe and a whole bathroom remodel. They worked fast and were very professional. Sam and Val who did the tile were awesome! The only small issue was who installed the sink, so make sure you know what is not in the contract before you get started. They did a fantastic job for repiping in copper and repaired sewer line.
Due to the messy piping job and leaking sewer from previous contractor, they help to clean up and corrected all. I received photos for before and after work that were provided by them to show the work.
He even did the tile work around the laundry sink at my garage. it's a bonus. I'm so happy as we now have a well-done piping and sewer . No complains.I found Dempster plumbing via yelp.

This was my first experience dealing with a broken pipe under a slab floor, in our home, a duplex Los Gatos.
It happened in the rental unit. A plumber was called & he jackhammered up part of the bathroom floor & replaced the old iron pipe. When he turned the water back on, guess what? The hot water pipe broke under the living room floor. The wonderful tenants were prepared for more jackhammering. However, we explored the internet and arranged for 3 estimates.
The price from all 3 companies was fairly close. So we decided to go with Dempster Plumbing, because the owner came out to do the estimate and was obviously the most knowledgable in showing us what needed to be done. He had a stable work crew and came out to the job everyday.
The crew was very courteous and covered everything in plastic as well as floors. They cleaned and vacuumed after the work day.
The dry wall guy did an outstanding job of repairing the walls and left them paint ready. They checked back to make sure that everything was working well.

Needed to replace a trap primer in a high rise condo unit (8th floor) and I was able to communicate with them via e-mail regarding the requirement and the following day got a call and had a new trap primer re-installed in less than an hour. We got a couple of bids, and thought we could get the city to do it but the wait was 9 months! So we hired Dempster Plumbing. Bill Dempster and his cheerful crew showed up promptly at 9am and made short work of hand digging an enormous trench across the front yard, carefully digging around the tree roots. On the second day workers arrived again at 9 and had the line installed, tested and ready to be inspected by early afternoon. On the third day the city inspector came and signed off, saying they did a good job. They crew cleaned up after themselves, even trying to put the sod back over the sewer line and washing off our sidewalk and driveway. I'll hire them again if I need plumbing help. I found Bill Dempster though a recommendation from a co-worker, and after reading the existing reviews here and on on Angie's List decided to talk to him about my re-pipe needs. He was quickly able to set up an appointment, and gave me what I believe to be a reasonable quote for the work.
He and his team did a wonderful job with the re-pipe, and quickly corrected the few problems that were discovered (one caused by an earlier partial re-pipe of the home). They kept the site clean, both by tarping all areas of the house they entered and by sweeping the garage after every day. The drywall they had to remove for their work is almost surgical, and even though they were not contracted for the drywall repair, they replaced all but one piece that was too damaged to re-use (prior water damage in the bathroom). They made sure I had water every night, and even repaired my dryer vent for me while they were under the house. They also replaced a shower valve at my request and neatly dressed the water filter lines under the kitchen sink. The re-pipe and tankless water heater install went well and on schedule.

The drywall they had to remove for their work is almost surgical, and even though they were not contracted for the drywall repair, they replaced all but one piece that was too damaged to re-use (prior water damage in the bathroom). They made sure I had water every night, and even repaired my dryer vent for me while they were under the house. They also replaced a shower valve at my request and neatly dressed the water filter lines under the kitchen sink. The re-pipe and tankless water heater install went well and on schedule.
I highly recommend Bill and his company, and would definitely use him for any plumbing needs in the future.

Dempster will be the plumber I call 1st. They came out same day accessed our water heater and the leak and found out it was still under warranty. They could have taken us for a ride but did not. You don't find too many trustworthy businesses around anymore but Dempster is definitely one of them. I would have never thought I'd be happy to see plumbers in my house until the Dempster guys showed up! We had a water heater that was almost as old as our 50-year-old house. When it started leaking two weeks ago, we called a few plumbers with good Yelp reviews to give us an estimate for installing a tankless water heater, removing an obsolete solar system and relocating our washer and dryer and our garage sink to the other side of the garage. This whole job involves not only plumbing but also electrical work, gas pipe extension and creating a new exhaust/drain. Bill Dempster was very professional and patient in explaining what needs to be done. His bid was itemized so we can decide what fits our budget and his proposal was much more reasonable cost-wise than anybody else. But what really made it for us is that, unlike anybody else, he included in his bid the labor and materials for the electrician that he works with. We really didn't want to look for more reviews of electricians and deal with yet another person for this project.

They cleaned the garage areas that opened after the old water heater was hauled away--it was some 50-year-old dust pile there. One of our kitchen circuits was off and we couldn't flip the switch on the electrical panel any more. I was referred to Bill from a coworker and it definitely helped us tremendously. Our shower had a very bad leak and my husband who is very handy tried to fix it. The valve was corroded in place and the result was when he tried to remove it it snapped the copper pipes in the wall. This all happened very late on a Saturday afternoon. Very scary since we had NO water in the house. The broken pipe caused us to shut the water at the street.
I found Bill's number and he knew exactly the brand of shower valve that caused this problem and said he would be out in 20 minutes. He had it fixed by 8:30 pm and the whole family was greatful! He did a great job with fixing this problem and was very fair with charging us for the repair. Bill Dempster and his team are fantastic! I helped my mother-in-law find a plumber for her bathroom remodels and because Bill's team is so talented, it grew into a bigger project. His team was a one stop shop for other projects she needed to get done before she moves into her condo.
They installed new fixtures in the shower, faucets, fix the piping in the laundry room and secured the hot water heater. They also installed bathroom fans in both bathrooms, removed wallpaper, re-tiled one bathroom and painted the entire place. She's also going to have his electrician install new light fixtures and a ceiling fan. I'm probably forgetting a detail or two but let's just say that did a ton of work.
The part that impressed me the most was how right priced that the bids came in. We got a lot of quotes for a lot more that included a lot less. Bill's team was excellent at working with my mother-in-law. She's on medication for her medical condition which makes her not so easy of a customer to deal with sometimes.... she may sound aggressive, change her mind, etc. This is also her first home improvement project so she's high anxiety. Bill's team were a bunch of saints while dealing with her. They were patient and took the time to explain and itemize everything.

My water heater recently started leaking, and after contacting my home warranty company and having a bad experience with the plumbers they referred, I decided to contact Bill, who I found through yelp. Since he had the highest reviews, I decided to give him a call about replacing my water heater.
I found that he was very knowledgeable and thorough about my inquiries about a tankless vs. tank water heater. I ended up going with a standard, tank water heater which he installed at a very competitive rate. Him and his crew did a very thorough, clean job.
I had no problems with setting up an appointment with him or getting my questions answered. He was always very quick in responding to both emails and phone calls.

We used Dempster plumbing for a copper re-pipe in our house, and the main reason why we choose them was because of the fact that they actually came up with a solution on how to re-pipe the main line out without having to rip up the massive amount of concrete that covered most of our front yard. The other plumbers I contacted just looked at it and went, "wow that's a lot of concrete" and didn't even attempt to come up with a solution to the problem.
As for the re-pipe itself, they did a wonderful job keeping our house clean and ensuring that the massive holes that needed to be cut in our walls were covered before they left for the night.
The previous owners did a lot of DIY work around the house, and one of the worst things they did was when they fixed a leak//installed the bathtub in the hall bathroom they did a half-assed job and to make matters worse covered up the giant hole around the fixture with linoleum! Since we are planning on re-modeling the bathroom at some point, we didn't want to spend a lot of money getting that area fixed, and Bill helped us come up with a viable solution so that we could pass inspection.

I recently had my entire home repiped by Bill Dempster and his crew! I can't say enough positive things about Dempster Plumbing and would refer them for any plumbing job, large or small, without any hesitation whatsoever! Not only did Bill beat estimates I had received form the so-called repipe "specialists", Bill and his crew are prompt, courteous, and considering the magnitude of the job, caused a minimum of disruption and finished ahead of schedule! My house was left clean with running water each night. Mr. Dempster is an extremely skilled journeyman plumber and is either doing the work personally, and/or closely supervising all phases of the job...the only sub is the sheetrock guy who did a magnificent finish job matching the existing walls and texture. I was particularly impressed that Dempster included several "extras" such as installing a new kitchen faucet, and added a spigot to the exterior of the house at no additional charge, and with a smile...find another plumber that will do that! My ONLY suggestion would be for them to include stucco repair services if they have to make any openings to the stucco exterior of your house... Just re-piped my house in Los Gatos.
I am 100% satisfied with Bill and his team (which was led by his son).
1. I got 4 bids for my repipe - Bill's was priced in the middle and I gained confidence that his craftsmanship would be superior (based on the walkthrough and him pointing out all of the things he'd "bring to code" and other "add ons" he would throw in "for free" since they were repiping). Also chose him because he was the least 'salesy' and therefore, seemed most trustworthy.
2. They completed the job in the fashion promised (on time, very clean - used tarps everywhere - extremely nice tile/sheetrock work, etc)
3. The team is a group of young (but very experienced) guys. They are motivated, show up every day on time and in a good mood.
4. The team put up with me asking LOTS of questions as the job was completed. I'm a 'micromanager' by nature and they never once reacted to my questions in a defensive manner.
5. The quote is exactly what I paid. There was no change in it.

When my fiance and I purchased our first home we knew we needed to get the house repiped but we didn't have the first clue as to what was involved and who we could trust. After getting quotes and meeting with several of the major repipe companies we chose Dempster Plumbing. Not only did he give us an excellent price, but he took the time to explain each step along the way, which was very important to us. The crew was very courteous and respectful too. (I'm a customer service critique so this was very important to me)
Bill was also very straight with us and told us everything that would be involved upfront - a huge step above the competition who tried to take advantage of us by 'forgetting' to mention things that would be involved and would add to the initial cost. Bill told us what was up right from the get go.
In the end, the city inspector came to sign the permits off and we asked him what he thought of the repipe work that Bill and his crew did. He said, "you know what? I've done a dozen of these repipe inspections over the past month or so and this job was by far the best."
We couldn't have asked for more value for the money!

Dempster plumbing did a re-pipe job for me and I was extremely pleased with the results. I have already recommended them to other people we know.
Others I know, who had their house re-piped, used one of the re-pipe outfits you see advertised. Most of these people have had mixed, or poor, results. While these other re-pipe guys can be super-fast, some of them tend to be sloppy, do poor work and use low-quality materials. I wanted a someone who did a quality job, and this is exactly what I got with Dempster Plumbing.
I got 5 quotes for the re-pipe job, and Dempster Plumbing was right in-line with the others on the quote price (maybe a bit cheaper). I choose Dempster over the others because he had excellent references - both on-line, and with people I spoke directly with. One reference told me that Bill Dempster really likes being a plumber and takes pride in his work. It is hard to go wrong with a guy who cares about his work and wants to do a good job.
Dempster Plumbing arrived on-time Monday morning and got right to work. Our job not only involved re-piping the house, but also routing of a new water main along the side of the house, up from the water meter by the curb. We had Dempster install somewhat larger diameter pipe from the curb to the house and also to the outside hose bibs (on a separate feed) since the water pressure was somewhat low before. No problem now.
By Thursday, everything except patching of the drywall was done and all plumbing was new and fully functional. During the course of the job we always had one bathroom and the kitchen sink fully functional (except for a couple hours each day when the guys needed to shut off the flow while they worked). Once the inspector came by (we got a permit for this job), Dempster patched the walls and we were essentially done (except for some painting, which we did ourselves). The inspector was actually impressed with the quality of the workmanship and said most other jobs he sees don't look this good.
Bill made sure his guys cleaned up every night and Bill also came by before the final inspection to make sure nothing was out-of-line. He even cut off an old pipe coming out of the concrete out front, since the inspector might see that as a tripping hazard.

A colleague referred me to Dempter plumbing when I mentioned that I had a clogged dishwasher. Joe was the person who came over to fix it. I've never done a review before but I had to say something about a firm that helped me with my home. All the walls were down and I had to get the plumbing completely redone. I was going to do the electrical myself but knew nothing about plumbing. Dempster Plumbing came in and did an excellent job including ideas that I would have never thought of on my own. They got started and everything else fell into place. The price was more than fair.

So I was preparing to have family at my house when I noticed I had some plumbing issues here and there (wouldnt flush all the time :P) I had enough of this issue and decided it was time to find someone to come check out my plumbing issue.
I checked up on Yelp and found Dempster Plumbing....I called them and they provided me with great customer service. The girl was able to answer all my pricing questions as well as set up an appointment ASAP.

Bill Dempster and his crew came to our rescue again! The main sewer line leaving the house was clogged up like last year. Bill and crew came out that same day to clear it. Turns out we needed to get rid of some pervasive roots from our magnolia tree which were diagnosed by drain pipe video camera. After the diagnosis, they came out as scheduled and convenient for us, and put in a small section of new pipe in our front yard to replace the section the roots had tapped into. So fast, affordable, and professional. I trust Bill Dempster with all my plumbing needs, every time!

We found Dempster Plumbing online--nice site, good reviews, and the option to contact by email...very cool. We'd already had poor service with two previous plumbers/contractors trying to fix a bad leak in one bath (draining into our living room) and a broken/leaking shower handle/spout in the other. We had drywall damages too and we'd already spent over $750!
Bill, Vicente and team did a really great job. Not only did they do exactly what they said they would, but they kept their appointments, moved quickly and even took compassion on our situation--giving us a really good price with a free shower part and some free drywalling repairs to boot!

I was in a rock-and-a-hard-spot situation with out-of-town guests arriving and pretty much everything from the kitchen, laundry room and main bathroom backing up into the bathtub. Not good.
Bill came out on the same day I called and worked hard to get the blockage cleared. It was not easy to resolve, but on the third location he tried, it worked!
He charged a very reasonable fee and when we asked, he gave us some tips on how and why we might want to consider a future sewer re-piping to avoid this problem. It's the end of the Thanksgiving weekend and a copper elbow on my pipes sprung a leak!!! So, I looked in the yellow pages and called one of those big fancy we work 24/7 plumbers. They said they would be out in an hour. Three hours later they gave me an estimate of $300.00!!! Now, I am a women, but I've worked in the landscape maintenance trade for a local municipality for 25 years, so I've fixed a few pipes in my day (mostly on irragation), so I knew when I was being taken. But, it was a holiday weekend, what could I do?
And, what I did was decide not to be stupid. I got on Craigslist, and found Dempster Plumbing. Crossed my fingers and dialed. Bill answered and I told him my problem. He said he would be there in 30-40 minutes.
Well, 15 minutes later, Bill was at my door. soldered the pipe and even fixed a leak in the shower in less than 45 minutes. He was clean, courteous, and professional. Oh yeah, the price less than 1/3 the estimate of that big fancy company.
I know that when your calling someone cold, your taking a risk. But, Bill Dempster was a risk I'm glad I took. I will use him for all future plumbing needs and tell all my friends and family about him, too.

Very good experience. Scheduled an appointment directly with Bill. he showed up well before time - found a leak problem with an upstairs bathroom toilet. Fixed that (he ran to Home Depot to get an extra part) and one more problem in a different bathroom (that I told him about at the last minute). Bill got his drywall expert Vicente to come out just an hour later and fix the drywall damage caused downstairs due to the toilet leak. Vicente was very impressive - did a great job fixing and texturing the dry wall (we can't even tell that anyone did a fairly major repair on the wall) and fixed a defective door lock on his own (I never requested it - he just fixed it because it was bothering him).

Bill responded to my pressing call for help when my garbage disposal chopped up a baby food jar that I didn't know had fallen down the hatch. This happened the day before a party, and I wouldn't have survived the day without the disposal. He returned my call in less than an hour and was onsite and completed the repair only another hour after that. He was efficient, professional yet cordial and knowledgeable. Best Service In Town: One of the best honest to goodness plumbers that I have ever used. Great work, clean, fair prices. We had a clog in the tub that would not drain. I went online and found these guys. Great service and a prompt service call. I hope my tub never clogs again because I do not like to stand in my shower water. Dempster Plumbing is now my only place to call for plumbing needs. They completed a great re-pipe job on my house in January 2011: the crew was in the house two days after the estimate was completed, and they did a great job. Then, I called for a follow-up job this week (June 2011), a leak in my lawn irrigation system near where they tapped in with the re-pipe. The leak was repaired later the same day, at no charge, even though the problem was most likely in the original irrigation system, and not due to the re-pipe work. Now that is customer service!Dempster Plumbing is now my only place to call for plumbing needs. I had Dempster Plumbing do a full home copper re-pipe from the curb and install a tankless water heater. I can't say enough good things about Bill and his crew. Bill and his crew were very professional, promptly arriving each morning and kept me updated on the progress of the job. I had complete running water in the evening and it was as if they weren't there because of how they kept everything so clean. It was great discussing the project with Bill because he was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about everything, you can definitely tell that he loves what he does. I would highly recommend Dempter Plumbing to anyone that I know and I plan to ask him to come back in the next few years to replace our sewer system. After first calling a plumber that was referred to me by a friend, I searched yelp and called Bill based on the reviews on this site. I had rattling in my house and the other plumber couldn't figure out what was going on, and was suggesting all sorts of expensive stuff to try and figure it out. I wasn't comfortable with that approach, so decided to start over.
Called Bill and we quickly set up an appointment for the next day. He came over and figured out that there was an underground leak (despite the rumbling in the house), and narrowed down the location without having to rely on an expensive leak locater service. He made a quick, temporary fix (which was great b/c the noise was driving my family batty) and then offered a couple of solutions at different price points and after I accepted his recommendation, he came back at the scheduled time and fixed the problem.

I found Dempster Plumbing by reading these reviews on Yelp. Since they were so favorable I decided to hire him and I am very happy that I did so. Everything positive that I had read turned out to be true.
In Jan 2010 we hired Bill Dempster to replace a leaky water heater, and also to re-pipe the core of our house with copper pipes, and also install three new high end toilets in the three bathrooms.
I was very pleased with every aspect of his work. His crew arrived on time, they were quiet and concentrated on the job itself. They were careful about tenting off the work area from the remainder of the house and using drop cloths and constantly cleaning up as the work progressed.
They used quite a bit of thought about where to cut into the drywall, and where to run the new pipes to ensure straight pipe runs. Their workmanship was high quality and completed very swiftly. At no time were we deprived of a working toilet and running water in the rest of the house, Bill even installed temporary shut off valves to isolate the work area from the rest of the house.
The job was completed in three days total, with most of the third day devoted to repairing the drywall. Again the drywall workmanship was high quality, it is impossible to discern where the holes were even though I know where to look.
Finally Bills price for the job was very reasonable.
I am an ex-IBM engineer used to excellent workmanship, and I would rate Bill Dempster plumbing as the best and have no hesitation about giving him five stars.

We found Bill Dempster using Yelp. He came in for what we thought was our kitchen sink clogging up. It ended up being a much bigger problem. He made time in his schedule to come back the next day will all the equipment and piping that was needed and fixed the issues. We haven't had a clog since.
